Raining Purple

Thanks everyone, for stopping by the Spring Thing giveaway hop and congrats to the winner, Lily M. Hope you enjoy your e-copy of The Beat on Ruby's Street!

I'll have a brand spanking new post up by Sunday evening, but right now have to dash off to celebrate the Passover holiday.

Yesterday was a sad day in Minneapolis; streets clogged with mourners and (purple) rain.

Just putting up a mini-post today with a memory of hearing my first Prince song. I was in a cab trying to get to work in midtown New York; I never took cabs because I couldn't afford them, but the subways were snarled up and I was late.

"When Doves Cry" was playing on the cabbie's radio. He was trying to flirt with me and all I wanted to say was, "Can you just stop talking, man? Whatever you're playing on the radio sounds really fine!"

I think he gave up because I just kept being silent, and finally I could hear the song. I think the announcer even mentioned the singer afterwards, so when I got out of the taxi all I could think of was, "Gotta find that tune!"

I did, and a lot more. Will always appreciate the man and his music.

RIP.
