I thought it would be fun, though, to see what other writers have done or are doing and discovered some choices that are, to say the least, interesting.
I'm just listing a few but you can find them all at https://interestingliterature.com/2016/09/30/22-interesting-facts-about-writing/
- Graham Greene would write 500 words a day and then stop - even in the middle of a sentence.
- Gertrude Stein and Vladimir Nabokov liked writing in parked cars.
- My favorite is Edith Sitwell, who supposedly laid in an open coffin before she started writing every day.
Moving on to playwriting, apparently William Shakespeare was a tax evader. You can learn other fun facts about him HERE.
My favorite Shakespeare story was in the Atlantic this year, and riffs on the possibility that Shakespeare's plays were actually written by a Jewish woman.
Lastly, the all-important category of readers has its own fun facts, according to this page:
- There are more than 130 million books in print.
- Nevada, Texas and Mississippi have the highest ratio of customers to bookstores in the U. S.
- Dr. Seuss invented the word nerd in 1950.
I've shared other facts and stories about Beat Generation writers in other blogs, so I'm not going to do much with them today. But if you want to share your own stories about writers or readers, your comments are always welcome!
