Earned, Not Taken

This past year has been brutal for everyone. I wanted to share a little with you about what it was for me.

My family has been touched by severe and scary illnesses, including COVID-19. I spent months searching for simple things like Lysol and toilet paper--scavenging, in a country where no one should be facing empty shelves like the ones pictured here.

I have not been able to see half my family since Thanksgiving.

This Thanksgiving, I won't see them either. And I'm pretty angry about that. (Nothing pretty about it, in fact).

This year, I watched several good friends in the restaurant and bar businesses lose their jobs. I felt trapped because I couldn't go anywhere. I spent too many hours alone and afraid.

I need a President who takes COVID seriously. I need a government who won't dither when people need help (yeah, second stimulus package, among other things).

I need a president who wants to meet people halfway instead of bulldozing them if they don't agree with him.

I need a president who meets people where they are and doesn't bully them for being minorities or women.

I need more hope than this administration was willing to give me or the people I know.

That's why I voted for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

If you did too, I want to thank you for voting! It meant the world to me.

If you didn't, I'm glad you voted too.

I'm even gladder that Biden and Harris won. Their victory was earned from the first day they embarked on it.

That's all I have to say right now.
