Distraction Day: Beatles & Stones

Once upon a time, The Beatles and the Stones ruled the earth. I was on the Beatles side (though it seemed to me John Lennon's writing got a lot better when he went off with Yoko. Listen to Double Fantasy if you even slightly disagree).

I'm not a huge fan of the Stones now, either, but I have come round to realizing what good songwriters they were, too (and, yes - Keith Richards IS the definition of cool.) Mick's voice has never been something I could listen to for long --but--
--in the interest of fun and distraction on another cold April day that refuses to warm up--

I've decided to list my favorite Beatles and Stones tunes -- in the order I like them.

Beatles
  1. I've Just Seen a Face
  2. I'm Looking Through You
  3. Baby, You Can Drive My Car
  4. Daytripper
  5. Norwegian Wood
  6. Blackbird
  7. Here, There and Everywhere
  8. Happy Birthday
  9. Happiness is a Warm Gun
  10. Eleanor Rigby
Stones
  1. Paint it Black
  2. Ventilator Blues
  3. Sympathy for the Devil
  4. As Tears Go By
  5. Waiting on a Friend
  6. Wild Horses
  7. 19th Nervous Breakdown
  8. Moonlight Mile
  9. You Can't Always Get What You Want
  10. Jumpin' Jack Flash
To be fair though, Paul Simon (and Simon and Garfunkel before him) wins the title of best and favorite songwriter. I can't list any particular songs because every one makes the list. Tied with Roseanne Cash.

Of course, you're always welcome to send your favorites, too.
